Abstract

Information society is a new way to live and worktogether. The first priority in education is to preparepeople to integrate into information society by givingthem the right to continuous learning The most importantelements of information society are communicationsystems connected with the most advanced information– communication technologies, the latter eliminatingtime and distance limitations and providing citizenswith the possibilities of open and distance learning.Distance learning is the most rapidly developingfield in specialists’ preparation. This system allowspeople to learn at the most appropriate time and ratewithout moving from their living or working place.Although there have been established computerizedand distance learning networks as well as the process ofcreating special distance learning courses has gainedits rate in Lithuania, people still lack information aboutthe possibilities and distinctions of distance learning.The article analyses the advantages and problems relatedwith new approach to managerial-economicalpreparation of specialists by mean of distance learningand presents the research results disclosing people’s intentionsand readiness to study using distance learning.
